Your information, handled with care.
Effective October 13, 2026
The short version:
- We collect what we need to do your books and taxes, and nothing to advertise to you.
- We never sell your information.
- We share it only with the services that help us work, or when the law requires it.
- Your tax information is used for your taxes, and nothing else without your written consent.
This policy explains how Anthony Baloga, CPA (“BALOGA CPA,” “we,” “us”) handles personal information collected through balogacpa.com, our client portal, and our work with you. It also serves as our privacy notice to clients.
What we collect
When you book a call
Your name, email, phone number, business name, and any notes you add, plus the time you choose.
When you become a client
- Contact and business details from your intake form and account settings: name, phone, business name and address, and entity type.
- Documents you upload or we prepare for you, such as tax forms, statements, receipts, and returns. These can include sensitive details like Social Security numbers, income, and account information.
- Your financial records, including bookkeeping data in QuickBooks.
- Your signed engagement letter, including your typed signature, the time you signed, and the IP address and browser used to sign it, kept as a record that you agreed.
- Billing details. Payments are processed by Stripe; we see your plan, payment status, and the type and last four digits of your payment method, never your full card or bank account number.
- Messages you send us by email, text, or phone.
Automatically
Like any website, our servers and providers receive basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type. We use it to keep the site running and secure, for example to limit repeated booking attempts.
How we use it
- To provide the services in your engagement letter: bookkeeping, tax preparation and filing, and advisory.
- To schedule and confirm calls, and to send reminders and updates.
- To bill you for your plan.
- To communicate with you and answer your questions.
- To keep your account and our systems secure.
- To meet our legal and professional obligations as a licensed CPA.
We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t build marketing profiles.
Your tax information
Federal law (26 U.S.C. §7216) limits how tax preparers can use and disclose tax return information. We use it only to prepare and file your returns and to provide the services you’ve engaged us for. We will not use it for any other purpose, or disclose it to anyone else, without your separate written consent, unless the law allows or requires it.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it with other companies for their own marketing. We share it only:
- With service providers that help us operate, each limited to what its job
requires:
- Supabase: database, client logins, and secure document storage.
- Stripe: payment processing.
- Google: calendar scheduling for booked calls.
- Resend: delivering booking and account emails.
- Intuit QuickBooks: bookkeeping.
- Replit and Cloudflare: hosting and delivering this website, and Cloudflare’s cookie-free visitor analytics.
- With tax authorities, such as the IRS and state agencies, when we file on your behalf.
- When the law requires it, for example in response to a subpoena, or as part of required professional peer review.
- With your permission, for example with your attorney, lender, or another advisor you ask us to work with.
Because we don’t share your nonpublic personal information with outside companies except as the law permits, there is nothing you need to opt out of.
Cookies and similar technology
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Signing in to the client portal stores a session in your browser so you stay logged in. Stripe may set cookies on the payment step to prevent fraud. Both are needed for the site to work.
To understand how the site is used, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page visits, where visitors came from, and general details like device type, without cookies and without tracking you across other websites.
How we protect it
Information is encrypted in transit, and the client portal only shows each client their own records. Uploaded documents are stored privately, and download links expire after one minute. Access on our side is limited to the people who need it to serve you. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the responsibility seriously and maintain safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of what you share.
How long we keep it
We keep client records for up to seven years after our work for you ends, which matches our engagement letters and professional record-keeping standards. Booking details from people who don’t become clients are kept only as long as they’re useful for following up.
Your choices
- You can view and update your details anytime in the client portal’s Settings.
- You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- You can ask us to delete your information. We’ll do so except where we’re required to keep it, such as tax records.
To make a request, email [email protected].
Children
This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information online.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use client information, we’ll tell clients directly.
